AOL finally decided to cease all support for its browser Netscape. This is not unsurprising, though may still break some hearts. I have never personally be a user of Netscape, but I respect this pioneer of all browsers. I see this as a obituary for Netscape, but this doesn't mean the extinction of its family. Mozilla's initial code base was from Netscape when Microsoft won the browser war back in 90s. Then Firefox took a step further from Mozilla, so technically Firefox is the grand child of Netscape.
Rest in peace, Netscape. May the spirit goes on forever.

Acid2 Test
Acid2 Test is a page created by Opera to test how standard compliant a browser is.
It is interesting to note that Safari (version 2) is actually the first browser passes the test. Opera 9 comes second, though Opera created the test, but we like the earnestness honesty of Opera, which is rarely seen in this information age. Apple is accused of doing special tweaking against Acid2 Test while developing its Safari browser.
As of now, our favorite browser Firefox (version 2) doesn't pass the test. Sad but true. IE7 comes last, as its result is really "bloody".
However the next generation of both Firefox and IE, namely Firefox 3 and IE8 will pass the test.
Now Opera's only weapon against Microsoft will be silenced. (Take hint Opera, it's time to create a more strict test - Acid3 Test - and fail all browsers).

Webkit for Android Reloaded
This article caught my attention as it cleared some of my doubts on the reason why Google has opted Webkit over Gecko as the rendering engine of their mobile platform Android.
Apparent Google had started customizing their services for iPhones before Android was announced. However we cannot be sure that, if customized services for iPhone is a reason or a result of Webkit being the choice. My best guess would be a little bit mixture of both.
Not as surprised as when I first heard the news, now I even start to think Webkit might be a much better choice than Gecko, as
1. For Developers: Unified development environment for developers of web applications for both iPhone and Android. Same rendering engine means one code base or no platform dependency AT ALL.
2. For Users: Unified experience for users switching from iPhone to Android or vice versa.
3. For Google: Apple has proved the feasibility of a full featured browser using Webkit on mobile devices, why take risk experimenting with others?
4. For Microsoft: Wake up from monopoly nightmare and start to take their browser seriously again, ever since they beat Netscape to death.
5. For Mozilla: Happy to see another fellow warrior growing its strength against the Dark Empire.
6. For Apple: Our Safari is gonna be supported better than ever.
So it's a win-win-win-win-win-win situation, nothing beats that!!!

Get Free Copy of Windows Vista
Microsoft launched Windows Feedback Program. Long story short, microsoft give you free copy of windows vista/xp (any edition) in exchange of some feed backs from you for 3 months.
The links is there.
http://wfp.microsoft.com/
I'm surprised that it really works.
here is a screen shot, in which I was able to pass Windows Genuine Advantage Validation before downloading PowerShell. Noted that I've never enter any cd-key of any sort for this vista home premium installation.
